Netflix Recommendation – Bandersnatch

The film I watched over new year was the Black Mirror Bandersnatch film. This film was highly anticipated, and I had been waiting for it to be released. If you don’t know already it was a virtual film where the audience pick how the films ends.

The film follows a young programmer start to question reality when he adapts a mad writer’s fantasy novel into a video game.

I really enjoyed the interactive aspect of the film as it felt like I was more involved with the outcome of the film. However, if you just wanted to chill and watch a film this probably isn’t the one for you as you do have to pick quite a few answers to different questions they ask so you do have to pay attention.

I think is a one-time watch film as I do not feel the need to watch it again as even if you chose the wrong answer you get directed back round to the correct answer or the one they want you to give so no matter what you pick you end up with the same ending there is just different ways to get to the ending.

I would however recommend the film to anyone who was looking for something a bit different to watch. I am a big fan of the whole Black Mirror series so would recommend watching the other episodes I do think they do make you think about issues in society such as social media.

Netflix Recommendation – Bird Box

Another Netflix film I have watched recently was Bird Box. I had heard a lot of people talking about this film, so I knew it was something I had to watch to see what it was all about. In the film a mysterious force decimates the population, only one thing is for sure – if you see it you die. The survivors have to avoid coming a face to face with the entity. As one of a few survivors in the area a woman and her two children embark on a dangerous journey to a place that potentially can offer sanctuary. They have to complete the trip blindfolded.

The film stars Sandra Bullock who I have loved since the days of Miss congeniality.

From the moment I put this film on I was hooked– although the idea of everyone suddenly dying didn’t seen that realistic to me, I had to forget about that and just embrace the film. The film is intense and very gripping, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It may not necessarily be a film I watch again as I think those type of films are ones that you watch once as once you have seen it you don’t need to watch it again. However, that does not mean I enjoyed it any less and I would recommend it to anybody that loves Thriller films.

Netflix Recommendation – YOU

I recently watched the American thriller series YOU on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed it. The series follows a bookstore manager who’s crush on an aspiring writer becomes sinister when the writer becomes the managers obsession. The manager uses everything from social media and the internet to become close to the aspiring writer and removes any obstacles in his path.

When I first put this series on, I didn’t know what to expect and wasn’t sure if I would like it but as soon as I started the first episode, I had to continue to watch the rest. It did take a bit of getting use to as you are sort of in the book stores managers head, so you see everything through his eyes. But once I had gotten of that aspect, I really enjoyed this series.

This series is gripping and once it has started it’s hard to put down as you want to see what happens in the end. The show does highlight how much information we give away using social media and how easy it would be for somebody to track us down if they wanted to. So, the one good things about this show is that it does make you more aware on social media.

I would highly recommend this show as I really enjoyed it, I am a fan of American thriller films so if you are too this is definitely the series for you.

TV Recommendations – Killing Eve

A couple of months ago I watched a BBC series called Killing Eve, which I believe is still on iPlayer to catch up with if anyone is interested.

Killing Eve stars Sandra oh and Jodie Comer – I mean I was always going to watch it if Sandra oh was in it as she was my favourite character in Grey’s Anatomy.

The series is based on Eve who is a MI5 Security officer who end up hunting down Villanelle a very talented killer. Eve and Villanelle go head to head and become equally as obsessed with each other as Eve is tasked with hunting done the psychopath assassin.

This series gripped me from the moment I started watching it and I cannot wait for the highly anticipated second series which they have been filming.

Both Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer are incredible actors in this series and I recently found out that Jodie is not fluent in any other languages so all the languages she spoke she had to learn as she went along with the filming of the series.

I would highly recommend this series as it is a great programme to watch. Everybody that I have spoken to about it has also enjoyed this programme.

Film Recommendations – Lord of the Rings

I know Lord of the Rings is a trilogy of films that I should have watched years ago but only recently have I given into my boyfriend’s request and actually watched these films with him. As must as I would like to tell him I didn’t like them I couldn’t I had to admit that I actually enjoyed them, and they may now even be some of my favourite films that I have watched.

I am not sure what put me off watching them in the first place, perhaps it was the hype that followed them that made me think they wouldn’t be able to live up to the hype or maybe I just thought I wouldn’t enjoy them. Part of me wishes I had watched them sooner but the majority of me is glad I waited because I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed them as much if I had watched them as soon as they came out.

My boyfriend of course is extremely happy that I liked the films and has now given me the hobbit to watch, which so far, I am not that impressed with. I know a lot of people like the hobbit, but I just cannot not get into it like Lord of the Rings. I am going to perservere we The Hobbit for another couple of days but after that I may have to give up for now and perhaps try again in the future.

The scenery is the Lord of the Rings films is just immense and I know need to go to New Zealand. I have always wanted to go there but now that interest has increased. I almost liked the films that much that I could quite easily watch them again already.

If you haven’t watch them already and are late to the party like my then I would highly recommend watching these films.

Christmas Film Favourites

One of my favourite things about Christmas is watching Christmas films. When it is cold outside I love nothing more than getting cosy and watching a Christmas film. Over the years I have watched many Christmas films but here is a list of a few of my favourite ones:-
1- The Grinch
The Grinch is one of my most favourite Christmas films so much so that every year for Christmas my mom buys me Grinch Christmas pyjamas. If you haven’t seen already Primark always has really nice Grinch pyjamas. I have always loved watching the Grinch as it is a good feel good film and I usually leave this to watch on Christmas Eve Night.
2- Annabelle’s Wish
Annabelle’s Wish is one of those films that nobody else has ever heard of. It was a film that I was brought one Christmas when I was younger that I loved so much that I make sure that I watch it most years even now. It is a cartoon film about a cow called Annabelle who wants to be a reindeer. It is a super cute film for young children.
3- Home Alone
I think everyone loves to watch home alone at this time of year. Its one of those films that I never actually think about watching but I always find it on TV somewhere and end up watching it. This films also reminds me of my childhood.
4- Miracle on 34th Street
Miracle on 34th Street is the must see film this time of year. I love to watch this film and often watch it more than once. It is the perfect film to put you in the mood for Christmas.
5- The Holiday
The holiday is not always the most typical Christmas film but it is one of those films that I really enjoy watching over the Christmas period because it is very light hearted.
6- Jack Frost
I have watched Jack Frost every year since my sister was brought it one Christmas when we were younger. Even though it starts off really sad; it is still a really great family film to watch.

There are many more Christmas films that I love but these are the ones that I make sure that I watch every year to get me in the Christmas spirit ready for Christmas day.
