Christmas Game Favourites

On Christmas day once all of the family have finished their Christmas dinner the only think to do next if to play some Christmas games. I love playing games with my family as we do not get the chance to do it that often these days and it bring out our competitiveness that we use to have when we were younger. These are 5 of our favourite games to play:-
1 – Rapidough
The game is one of my favourite to play with my family because it is so easy to play so family members of all ages are able to play it. This game has come out every year over the last few years and even my nans enjoy playing it.
2- Monopoly
Monopoly is the ultimate family game and it always get the competitiveness out in my siblings and I. This year I have even bought the cheater version of monopoly for a family member this year so I am really excited to play this.
3- What do you Meme?
My boyfriend is obsessed with Memes so this was the ideal game to play with him. There are various images from memes and you have to match it with the best captions.
4- Cards
I love playing cards and every family member seems to know a different game. This is a simple game that allows all the family to be able to play together
5- Dobble
I purchased Dobble in the summer and I am really enjoying bringing it out to play with my family over Christmas. Dobble is a really simple but enjoyable game to play

Which are you favourite games to play at Christmas?

Audible

I have recently been introduced to Amazon’s Audible; my boyfriend started to use it and at first I wasn’t sold on it. But once I got over being stubborn and gave it a try I absolutely love it.
I am not a massive reader – well that’s an understatement. I cannot actually remember that last time I read a book from start to finish. I have always been jealous of those who can hold there concentration in order to finish a book. I used to always try to read a book but after a chapter or two I would get distracted by something and then I would never end up going back to finish the book. Nowadays I barely even try to read a book unless my boyfriend recommends it and even then it will take me about a year to get through it.
One Sunday afternoon I decided to give Audible a try and I haven’t look back since. So far I am on my 5th book and I have only had it a couple of weeks. There are so many books to choose from and it is so easy to use.
You are able to try it for free for a month which is what I am currently doing it but if after the month I am still as in love with it as I am now I will be continuing to pay the monthly fee for it. In your free month trial you are given 1 credit which allows you to download one book to listen to. However once you have finished the book or if you don’t like the book you can refund it and then choose another book.
I really enjoy learning new things but for quite a while this has been through the internet and not through books. There are so many informative books out there and audible is making them more accessible than ever before. I often select a book and listen to it while I am doing other tasks for example I am listening to it while I am writing this blog.
Some of the books that I have listen to so far have been:-
– The Subtle Art of not giving a F*ck by Mark Manson
– Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
– 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote for Chaos by Jordan Peterson
I have thoroughly enjoyed all of these books and learnt a lot from all of them. Once you start to read a couple of books you get recommended books often a lot of which I have never heard of before.
I would highly recommend using Audible and I am going to continue to listen to as many books as I can.

Chilled Weekend

This weekend I have been lucky enough to be able to enjoy four days off work. I had a couple of annual leave days to use so I decided to have a long weekend so that I could have a nice break from work before the busy Christmas period begins. I have thoroughly enjoyed having the extra time of work because it has allowed me to focus on jobs that I have been wanting to do for ages but I haven’t yet had the chance to do them. For example returning to my blog. I haven’t blogged in quite a while because I have been focussing more on other areas of my life but I have missed being able to blog regularly so I am hoping to get back into a more regular blogging schedule.
Sometimes when you are at work you forget about the things that you like doing the most and once you stop doing those things for a while it feels harder to be able to get back to doing them. So having a break away from the office allows me to think freely and be able to do the things I really enjoy. I think also because a lot of my time is spent in an office with people who have completely different interests to me, my interest somewhat get lost in the busyness of day to day life.
There is another Christmas market on today quite near to where I live so I am hoping to go and have a little look around and see if I can find any Christmas gifts. I am still struggling with a gift for my mom so I am hoping I will see something she would like. I may even treat myself to a Christmas film tonight to get myself even more in the Christmas mood.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend 🙂

December 1st

Yayy it’s the first day that we are actually allowed to get excited about Christmas!!
Every year during November I enjoy looking for advent calendars to see which new ones have come out this year. This year I bought my boyfriend the Reese’s peanut butter cup advent calendar as this is his favourite chocolate. We never used to be about to get this advent calendar in the UK so as soon as I see it I have to buy it just in case they are not for sale in all shops. I have got a Thornton’s advent calendar this year which I am really excited about.
When I was younger we used to have one of those advent calendars that my parents would fill up with little chocolate treats/ lollipops. As there was three children in my family this was really good because it meant we didn’t have to share one advent calendar where only one of us got a chocolate each day.
Even my dog has an advent calendar and she seems to know that she has one because last year I remember each day at a certain time she would know that it was her turn to have her advent treat.
Today I am going to go and do some Christmas shopping for my family members. I have actually already brought quite a lot of my presents this year already which I am really happy about as I am never usually this organised. Although I am struggling to think of present ideas for my mom as she is always the one that I struggle the most to think of gift ideas for. I enjoy going Christmas shopping but usually I go quite early so that I can be done before it starts to get really busy.
Hope you are all enjoying the first day of December 😊

Festive Season

It’s December tomorrow so please can we start getting excited about Christmas?

Christmas is my favourite time of year so I’m excited to be able to share some of my Christmas traditions with you during the month of December. Even though we have not yet reached December the Christmas spirit has already started to take over me. I may have even put a small Christmas tree up in the office this week.
I think the thing I like most about Christmas is the joy that it brings. I know that not everyone celebrates Christmas but in general the level of happiness seems to be higher around this time of year and it almost starts to feel a little bit magical.
I went to my first Christmas market of the year a couple of weeks ago; it was the Victorian Market in Gloucester. I wasn’t sure if it was a bit early to go to a Christmas market but I really enjoyed it. There was load of different stalls to look around and lots of food to try. When it started to get dark and the Christmas lights were on and I could hear Christmas music it was just perfect. I really enjoyed the market and hope to visit a few more during the run up to Christmas. I think there may be one in Worcester this weekend so I may go and see what that one is like.
Over the next few weeks I am going to be writing about my favourite Christmas films, Christmas foods, gift ideas, traditions and many more Christmas things so please do stop by and check them out 🙂

Autumn :)

The temperature has dropped and the leaves have started to fall so it only means one thing…. Autumn has arrived!
I think Autumn may be my favourite season; everything looks so pretty covered in the yellow, brown and red leaves.
I love being able to wear jumpers, hats and scarves and being wrapped up all warm and cosy. As you know I love going on walks anyway but being able to wear wellies and walk through puddles and mud in a forest is so much fun in Autumn.
As much as I love being outside in this weather I also love being inside when it is raining outside and being able to snuggle up and watch a film and watch the water trickle down the windows.
Autumn also involves bonfire night and Halloween so what is not to like about it. I especially love bonfire night as we have always gone to bonfire night displays with my dad. Also all the shops start to sell chocolate and Toffee apples at this time so I will have to make sure I treat us to one at some point over the next few weeks as they remind me of being a child.
As Autumn is only just beginning I am really forward to making the most of it.

Podcast Life 5

I listened to another of Joe Rogan’s podcast this week; it was 1164 with Mikhalia Peterson.
Mikhalia is a food blogger who suffers with severe arthritis and depression. Mikhalia realised that certain foods where effecting her differently so she though she may be allergic to them so she started to eliminate different foods slowly and her arthritis and her depression got better. Eventually she eliminated most foods and now she is on a carnivore diet where she only eats meat.
This podcast was really interesting as I have heard of the carnivore diet but I had never really explored this or learnt about the benefits it could have. For Mikhalia it is clearly beneficial and helps to get rid of a lot of pain that she suffers from and it enables her live a better and more enjoyable life.
I understand that everyone can eat what they like and alter there diet to suit their body but I personally cannot imagine only eating meat. I choose to not eat a lot of meat as I do not enjoy it so for me only eating meat would be my nightmare. Obviously there is benefits to the carnivore diet as there is to veganism and vegetarianism and many other diets but I suppose until you take on these diets yourself you don’t know how your body will react and whether there will be any deficiencies that it could cause you. I can see how altering your diet can be beneficial so that you can avoid allergies to certain foods. It seems to be that more and more people are realising that they may have allergies to certain food so it could well be possible to be allergic to the majority of foods like Mikhalia and not realise it.
If I was suffering with a similar illnesses to that which was discussed in this podcast I too would have to debate the benefits of the carnivore diet. I think that majority of people would try something if there was a chance it would get rid of the pain that you were suffering. We always look to different medicines when we are in pain or feeling ill but I wonder how much of it is actually down to our diets. There is no such thing as a perfect diet as everyone is different so it is just about finding what suits your body and what helps you to live the best life you can.
This podcast was really fascinating and I have been told that there is another one on there that discusses the carnivore diet so I may give that one a listen too.
