Audible Recommendation – Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday

I recently listened to Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday on audible.

The book talks about our most common enemy; the ego. The book looks at how our ego is holding us back in every day life.

The books talks about arrange of people journeys to success by conquering their own egos. The book helps to show you how your own ego is getting in the way of your success and future.

I found this book really interesting and really enjoyed the use of other peoples stories to show how powerful the ego can be. It made me realise that even in the smallest of situations your ego can still take over and hold you back.

Audible Recommendation – Atomic Habits: An easy and proven way to build good habits and break bad ones by James Clear

I recently listened to Atomic habits: An Easy and proven way to build good habits and break bad ones by James Clear. I wanted to listen to this book as I often procrastinate quite a lot in my every day life and wanted to see how I could become more efficient in my personal life. This book was really insightful and showed me how I could make little changes and create new habit that will lead to a more efficient lifestyle.

The book looks at four simple laws to help set and maintain good habits, these are:-

  • Make it Obvious
  • Make it Attractive
  • Make it Easy
  • Make it Satisfying

Some of the individual habits he suggests can seem a bit obvious at times but I think until someone else tells you what you should be doing; it’s not really something  that you really consider actually changing. Sometimes it takes having it said to you in black and white for it to register properly within yourself and for you to then start to consider how you can start to bring these habits into your everyday life.

I would recommend listening to this book if you are looking to make small changes to your life that could make a huge improvement.

Couch to 5k update

Last night I completed the 2nd run of the first week of the couch to 5k app. This consisted of a 5 minute warm up walk and 8x 60 second runs which alternate with 7x 90 second walks and then a 5 minute cool down walk. Overall you end up running for 8 minutes in total.

I am really enjoying the app so far and I am enjoying trying to be more active. I have the final run to complete on Friday and then it is on to week 2. The program consists of 9 weeks.

I am really looking forward to seeing how far I can progress with this app.

15 Minute workout – Sarahs Day

Yesterday I tried the couch to 5k and today I tried one of Sarahs Day 15 minute workouts. I have been watching Sarahs day for quite a while now and really enjoy her videos so thought today that I would give one of her workouts a try.

I really enjoyed the workout and will definitely be given them a try again. There were parts I struggled with but over time I’m sure I will improve on these. Overall it was really enjoyable and I definitely felt like it was doing something to improve my fitness.
